Experience of Undergoing Plastic Surgery at JW Korea Hospital
Plastic surgery is becoming increasingly popular. In this article, I will share my personal experience of getting double eyelid surgery and rhinoplasty at JW Korea Hospital in Vietnam.
Why Choose Vietnam for Plastic Surgery?
- Affordable Costs: Compared to South Korea or Thailand, the cost of cosmetic surgery in Vietnam is much lower while still ensuring quality. I paid only $3,600 for both procedures.
- Diverse Services: Clinics in Vietnam offer a wide range of services, including double eyelid surgery, rhinoplasty, chin implants, liposuction, etc.
- Language is Not a Barrier: Some clinics have English-speaking staff, making communication easier for international patients.

Why I Chose JW Korea Hospital?
- A branch of JW Clinic in Korea: JW Vietnam is advertised as an official branch of JW Clinic in South Korea.
- Well-trained doctors: The head doctor was trained in Korea, ensuring expertise in cosmetic procedures.
- Good online presence: Their official website and YouTube channel looked professional and reliable.
However, my actual experience had some highs and lows that are worth noting.
Pre-Surgery Preparation
- I sent my photos and requests via email in English, and the clinic responded with detailed pricing and procedures.
- They advised me to stay for two weeks for post-surgery care.
- I booked Silverlands Sakyo Hotel for a comfortable recovery experience.
The Surgery Day – A Memorable Experience
Double Eyelid Surgery
- Local anesthesia was applied; the injection was slightly painful, but after that, I felt nothing.
- I was fully awake during the procedure, and it was completed quickly.
The surgery is quick, gentle, and painless
Rhinoplasty
- A nightmare experience: I assumed I would be under general anesthesia, but I remained awake the entire time.
- I could feel the doctor hammering my nasal bone to remove the hump. The sensation was extremely unsettling.
- Towards the end, the anesthesia wore off, and I could feel the stitches being sewn—it was painful enough to bring tears to my eyes.
Post-Surgery Recovery – 14 Days of Healing
The First Few Days
- Heavy nosebleeds immediately after surgery, but I was advised not to apply pressure to avoid reopening wounds.
- Swelling was present but not overly painful.
- Received daily IV injections for swelling reduction.
One Week Later
- Nasal splints were removed, bringing significant relief.
- Stitches remained in my eyes, nose, and ear (as ear cartilage was used for the nose job).
- I could go out normally while covering the stitches with a mask.

After Two Weeks
- All stitches were removed, and healing progressed well.
- Slight swelling remained in the eyelids but was not too noticeable.
- The nose looked great, with minimal swelling despite the intense procedure.
Results After 6 Months – Honest Review
- Eyelids: A noticeable improvement, though there is a slight extra fold underneath the double eyelid, likely due to the sequence of incisions.
- Nose: Looks fantastic—straight, natural, and with almost invisible scars.

Final Verdict – Should You Get Plastic Surgery in Vietnam?
If money is not an issue, South Korea may offer a better overall experience with premium services. However, if you want to save money, Vietnam is a solid option—as long as you can handle being awake during rhinoplasty.
