Revision Rhinoplasty: A Second Chance for Your Nose

Revision rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure designed to correct imperfections or complications from a previous nose job. It can address issues such as a misshapen nose, breathing difficulties, or a less-than-ideal aesthetic outcome.

Why Choose Revision Rhinoplasty?

If you’re dissatisfied with the results of your initial rhinoplasty, revision surgery can provide a solution. Common reasons for seeking revision include:

  • Shape and Size: A nose that’s too big, too small, or disproportionate to your facial features.
  • Breathing Issues: Difficulty breathing through the nose, which may be caused by a deviated septum or narrowed nasal passages.
  • Aesthetic Concerns: A nose that appears unnatural or has unwanted bumps or irregularities.

The Revision Rhinoplasty Procedure

Revision rhinoplasty is a more complex procedure than primary rhinoplasty. Our experienced surgeons carefully assess your individual needs and develop a personalized treatment plan. Common techniques include:

  • Cartilage Grafting: Harvesting cartilage from your own body (often the septum or ear) to reshape or augment your nose.
  • Tissue Removal: Removing excess tissue to refine the shape and size of your nose.
  • Septoplasty: Correcting a deviated septum to improve breathing.

JW’s Revision Rhinoplasty Cases:

  • Tilted Nose Implant:
  • Solution: The misaligned implant will be carefully removed, and a properly sized and shaped implant will be inserted to correct the tilt. If the nasal skin has become thin due to the previous surgery, it will be reinforced with autologous tissues (such as dermis, corium, or fascia) to ensure optimal implant placement and a natural appearance.

  • Nose Ridge Too High:
  • Solution: The existing implant will be removed, and the height of the nasal bridge will be reduced with a new, appropriately sized implant. Simultaneously, the width of the nasal bone will be narrowed through osteotomies (bone cuts) to create a more refined and balanced profile, even with a lower bridge.

  • Skin Discoloration (Redness or Whiteness):
  • Solution: Skin discoloration often indicates poor blood circulation due to skin thinning, potentially leading to implant visibility. To address this, we will remove the problematic implant or cartilage. The thinned skin will be reinforced with autologous or artificial dermis to improve blood flow and prevent further complications.

  • Low Nose Tip:
  • Solution: To elevate the nose tip, we will utilize autologous cartilage grafts, such as septal cartilage, to provide structural support and maintain the desired projection.

  • Contracted Nose (Upturned Nose):
  • Solution: Revision rhinoplasty for an upturned nose involves carefully releasing the contracted tissues and separating scar tissue. Autologous cartilage grafts, such as septal or rib cartilage, will be strategically placed to support the nose tip and achieve a more balanced and aesthetically pleasing profile.
